This is my second year as a Store Intern for Target and very excited for what the summer has in store for me. I am currently a student at Baldwin Wallace University and will be starting my last semester of college in August. Last summer I was the intern at T-0985 in Strongsville, OH and now the Advanced Intern at T-2266 in Fairview Park, OH. Being an intern for Target stores is a great way to learn how to run a successful business within a store. These first few weeks have been so exciting; full of meeting the team and getting to know my mentor (ETL-SL, which stands for Executive Team Leader- Softlines), who I will be shadowing for the summer. We have planned out my summer to fully be able to get the most out of the internship. The best part about the internship is that you get hands-on experience by leading, coaching, and driving sales for the best guest experience possible. For my first couple of weeks I get to have the chance to shadow all the other Executive Team Leaders and their areas in the building. This gives me the chance to understand all aspects of running an exceptional preferred shopping destination for our guests.
I am looking forward to understanding more about running a successful business and getting to know the team better. Everyday at Target I get to take what I have learned in the classroom and what I love to do on my spare time and put it into practice; anything from volunteer events to partnering with the Store leadership to execute and manage the Store mission. I am eager to partner with my store volunteer captain to put together a store volunteer event because throughout my life volunteering my time and energy is very important to me so I can give back to my local community. We are planning on partnering with the local beach clean-up team to have an event that all team members can be a part of to help clean-up the local Lake Erie beaches. Finally, I am looking forward to keep learning my mentors’ area and learning and performing more of the Leader on Duty (LOD) duties. Can’t wait to keep learning more!
